Biography
Michelle is Head of the LGPS Funding and Benefits team at Mercer. She is Fund Actuary to a number of LGPS Funds ranging in size and complexity. She has over 24 years working in pensions and actuarial work and this includes working with Funds to develop an integrated approach to managing pension risk across all areas of funding, investment and employer risk. Michelle also has a special interest in climate risk and completed the IFOA course on Climate Risk and Sustainability in 2023. Michelle also acts as Mercer’s representative nationally on strategic issues impacting the LGPS and is a regular contributor to meetings with various Government Departments, Trade Unions, LGPS Funds etc., speaking at conferences and webinars, leading on consultation responses and contributing to guidance including in relation to the employer contribution flexibilities, principles for climate risk scenario analysis and FSS guidance. Michelle is also a Scheme Actuary to a number of private sector pension schemes. This role brings insight into potential challenges for the LGPS. Her experience of complex corporate events ranging from mergers and acquisitions and insolvency - and now increasingly dealing with scheme surpluses, provides a depth and breadth of experience to draw from in formulating solutions to emerging issues faced by LGPS Funds and their employers.Member since
