SAB Local Pension Board Forum

On 7 September 2026, Cllr Roger Phillips OBE hosted the Board’s first Local Pension Board chairs forum, bringing together chairs from 36 LGPS funds.

The forum was extremely well received and provided a valuable opportunity for Local Pension Board Chairs to share experiences and discuss the opportunities and challenges facing the LGPS.

Through discussion and live polling, attendees identified governance reform, pooling, recruitment and retention, and regulatory change as some of the key issues currently facing Local Pension Boards. Encouragingly, 60% of attendees reported that their fund felt fairly prepared for the forthcoming governance changes.

Feedback from the event was overwhelmingly positive, with strong support for making the forum a regular feature of the Scheme Advisory Board’s engagement programme.
