Biography
Gillian is Director of South Yorkshire Pensions Authority. She joined SYPA in 2019 as Assistant Director – Resources, responsible for finance, governance and a range of corporate services, before taking up the role of Director from December 2025. Gillian commenced her public sector finance career with the Audit Commission, where she obtained her CIPFA qualification and held roles since then in central and local government, before making the move into the LGPS. She holds a degree in Sociology and Social Policy from the University of York and also has a broad range of experience from having worked for almost 10 years in the homelessness sector. This included management of a large hostel in London, which she describes as a very rewarding as well as challenging experience that provided many useful lessons in working with people effectively that she continues to draw on today.Member since
