Fit for the Future technical consultation launched

The Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) has launched a technical consultation on changes to the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) in England and Wales.

The consultation is seeking views on 2 draft statutory instruments (below) and whether these effectively deliver the policy proposals set out in the government’s response to the earlier Fit for the Future consultation.

• the ‘Local Government Pension Scheme (Pooling, Management and Investment of Funds) Regulations 2026’
• the ‘Local Government Pension Scheme (Amendment) Regulations 2026’

The consultation closes on 2 January 2026. The Board discussed the consultation when it met on Monday 24 November and will prepare a response to the consultation and share this as soon as possible.
